About Our Crews

Corpsmembers who have demonstrated leadership and initiative in the Field Academy may apply to the Recycling Program. The Recycling Program offers selected corpsmembers significant opportunities to build confidence, communication, and job skills.

• Our recycling crews gain good references, an excellent work history, and an appreciation for the environment.
• Our crews learn equipment operation, customer service, leadership development, and teamwork within a professional work environment.

Once in the Recycling Program, corpsmembers apply for one of two types of recycling Internships:

• Internal interns manage Civicorps Schools' recycling operations.
• External interns work at local recycling agencies and businesses.

Giving Back

Recycling interns give back to the community in one other important way. They teach elementary school children about the Four Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot.
